Two houses can need two different answers. So can two windows in the same wall, and that is a judgement made at survey, not in a brochure.

In detail
Replacement windows
An insert replacement leaves the existing frame in place and fits a new unit inside it. It is quicker, cheaper, disturbs no interior or exterior trim, and it costs you some glass area because the new frame sits inside the old one. It is a perfectly good answer where the existing frame is sound, square and dry. Full-frame removal takes everything back to the rough opening, which is slower and more expensive and is the only way anyone can see the condition of the framing, repair it, and install a proper sill pan and flashing.
We decide which per opening. A wall of windows on a sheltered elevation with sound frames might all take inserts; one unit below a roof junction with a soft sill and staining on the interior casing gets full-frame regardless of what its neighbours get. Every unit we set, either way, goes in plumb, square and level, is insulated around with low-expansion foam rather than stuffed with batt, and is air sealed on the interior before the casing goes back.

Questions
Asked most aboutreplacement windows
How much do replacement windows cost per window in New Jersey?
Roughly $900 to $2,500 per opening installed for quality double-hung and casement units, with full-frame replacement at the upper end of that and large or specialty shapes priced individually. The spread is driven by unit size, operation, glazing package and whether the rough opening needs repair once it is opened.
How long do replacement windows take to arrive?
Six to ten weeks is normal for custom sizes, and standard sizes can be considerably quicker. Manufacturing lead time, not labour, is what sets the schedule — which is why the order goes in as soon as the survey is signed off rather than when a crew becomes free.
